Values · Assess what matters to you

Your values reflections exercise

Knowing what you truly value makes it far easier to see why change is worth it, and what you want to move towards. This short exercise helps you find your core values, then look honestly at how drinking fits alongside them.

Take your time. There are no right answers. Your responses are saved in this browser as you go, so you can come back to them.

Step 1 of 4 — Choose what matters

1. Get in touch with your core values

From the words below, tap the ones that genuinely resonate with you. Don't overthink it, go with what feels true. Choose as many as you like.

Aim for at least 5 so you've plenty to work with in the next step.

2. Find your core 5

Look at the words you chose. Notice which ones cluster together, or overlap in meaning. From these, tap the 5 that matter most, the ones that best capture who you want to be. These are your core values.

Choose up to 5. Tap a chosen value again to swap it out.

4. Living in more alignment with your values

For each core value, describe what it means to you, then choose one concrete action you could take in the next month to live a little more in line with it.

See an example

Value: Family

What it means & my goals: To be the best mum and daughter I can be. To be fully present with my family and enjoy get-togethers without the overuse of alcohol getting in the way of meaningful time with them.

Action for the next month: Spend more time with my mum and organise a lunch out for her birthday. Focus on cutting down to healthier levels by planning ahead and interspersing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
